About

My name is Harrison Rodi. (or Mr. Rodi if any of my students are reading) I am a math teacher at Denton High School in Denton, Texas. The 25-26 school year is my second year of teaching.

I graduated Marcus High School in Flower Mound, TX in 2016, then started my college education at North Central Texas College. Following marriage to my beautiful wife in 2018, I transferred to the University of North Texas, (UNT) where I pursued a degree in physics, before eventually changing course to mathematics. I graduated in May 2024 with a Bachelor’s of Arts in Mathematics, and a minor through the Teach North Texas program in secondary math and science education.

My college journey was filled with troubles, mainly stemming from being deaf along with various mental health challenges. It was ultimately my faith in Jesus Christ that set me up for success. Jesus ensured I experienced the right things, at the right time, to be the teacher He needed me to be. I have had several devastating rock bottom moments, but I persisted trusting that His plans were great. And looking back, great they were.

I ended up choosing to not do student teaching under Teach North Texas and instead shifted to the alternative certification program ECAP in order to have a paid internship vs. being unpaid at UNT. So, I have the funny experience of experiencing both the University and the Alternative Certification approaches to becoming a certified teacher.
